Song Presentation Plans
Resources on Teaching Repertoire for Music Educators
Choral rehearsal processes have always fascinated me! I am so interested in the techniques we use to polish pieces as we prepare for performance.
Moreover, I am fascinated by the processes we use to actually teach the notes and rhythms of a given performance piece to our ensemble members.
Unless we are blessed with an experienced choir or one that has been shepherded through a sequential sight-singing program, it is rare to have a group of singers who can pick up a choral octavo and read notation fluently.
Under the tutelage of Dr. Mary Goetze, and through my Kodály and Orff training, much of my professional life is spent developing processes for teaching choral repertoire using techniques that simultaneously improve the aural, reading, creative, and expressive skills and understandings of our singers.
The result is a library of “song presentation plans” for many choral octavos that I find captivating and suitable for performance.
Please view and “try out” the song presentation slides and lesson plan for the Alleluia Canon with your singers.
In the near future, this site will include many such plans for your purchase and use. Enjoy!
